L- GLUTAMINE is a versatile amino acid widely dispersed in body proteins and enzymes. L-Glutamine maintains both nitrogen and acid balance in human physiology by virtue of its role in ammonia fixation, transfer, and excretion. L-Glutamine is involved in biosynthetic reactions called transaminations in cells, which result in the production of: pyrimidines and purines, building blocks of RNA and DNA; hexasamines, building blocks of mucopolysaccharide (glycosaminoglycan); and other non-essential amino acids, building blocks of proteins.
L-Glutamine is one of only a few compounds that can cross the blood-brain barrier and participate in brain chemistry. In the brain, L-Glutamine is converted to glutamic acid. The latter serves as an energy source for the brain, a role only it and glucose can fulfill.
L-Glutamine has been shown to protect cells from the deleterious effects of alcohol. L-Glutamine is helpful for treating certain schizophrenias and senilities, in raising IQs, and in improving learning ability and memory recall in children.
Application: As a supplementary source of L-Glutamine to support memory and concentration.
Directions for use: Take one or more capsules a day, as a dietary supplement.
